HSLC and HS Final: a calm board year
Finish the syllabus by October, revise twice, practise test papers in January and walk into February calm.
ASSEB board results shape everything that follows: entrance exams, college admission and eligibility for Grade III and IV posts. A steady plan beats a panicked February.

Eligibility checklist
- Students enrolled in Class 10 or Class 12 of an ASSEB-affiliated school who have completed registration and form fill-up.
- Private candidates and improvement rules are notified by the board.
Pace and marking
- Time budget. Board papers are written: budget roughly 1.2–1.5 minutes per mark and keep 10–15 minutes to check.
- When to attempt. Attempt questions you know best first, number answers clearly and never leave a question blank: partial working earns marks.
- The arithmetic. There is no negative marking in written board papers. Steps, diagrams and labelled answers earn partial credit.
Tips from জয়যাত্ৰা
- Budget about 1.2–1.5 minutes per mark in a written paper and keep 10–15 minutes to check.
- Partial working earns marks. Never leave a question blank; write steps, diagrams and labelled answers.
- Board mindmaps in the workspace are a recall atlas for HSLC and HS: redraw a chapter from memory, then compare.
- Two full revisions before January leave room for test papers and rest.
- Practise past papers under time, in the same seat and at the same time of day as the exam.
A phase-by-phase plan
- Complete the syllabus · Sep–Oct
2–3 h a day after school. Finish every chapter as it is taught; textbook exercises the same week. A one-page summary per chapter. Recall cards for formulas, dates and definitions.

3–4 h a day. Revise chapter by chapter using your summaries. Solve the ASSEB model question papers subject by subject. Practical files and internal assessments completed early.
- Second revision and test papers · Jan
4–5 h a day. Full papers under time: one per day, rotating subjects. Revise weak chapters from the mistake notebook. Social Science: Assam history and geography revision.
- Exam weeks · Feb–Mar
Follow the routine. Revise only the next paper in the gap days. Sleep well and check your admit card and centre. After the exams: start your entrance or job pathway on joyjatra.
